In 2006 Daniëlle van Ark began work on a series about taxidermy in Museums of Natural History. She photographed the animals just as she found them in the museum depots, purely registering. This creates an illusion of staged scenes in which the animals come back to life For her series ‘the Mounted Life’, Daniëlle van Ark has thus far visited 33 museums in Europe and the United States. FOAM Editions, the gallery which is part of the renowned photo museum FOAM based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, has a part of this collection for sale.
About Daniëlle van Ark:
Daniëlle van Ark graduated in 2005 from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague and has started a residency at the Rijksakademie of Amsterdam in January 2012.
Van Ark’s work consists of independent photography series in which transitoriness, (family)history and status are recurring themes. Her work has been exhibited at theMuseum of the City of New York (U.S.), Deagu Photo Biennial (Korea), Kunstraum Niederösterich (Austria), FOAM (The Netherlands) and is part of many collections around the world.
